Hillary Clinton accused Republicans on the House Oversight Committee of not taking the inquiry into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes seriously and encouraged them to have President Donald Trump testify.
“If this Committee is serious about learning the truth about Epstein’s trafficking crimes, it would not rely on press gaggles to get answers from our current president on his involvement; it would ask him directly under oath about the tens of thousands of times he shows up in the Epstein files,” Clinton said in her opening statement, shared on social media.
The former secretary of state is sitting for a closed-door, recorded deposition with members of the committee as part of their investigation into Epstein’s crimes. She and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, were subpoenaed.
Hillary Clinton has long-insisted she had no personal relationship with Epstein, nor did she know anything of his crimes. However, she is being asked questions because her husband had a social and professional relationship with the sex offender.
Bill Clinton has denied wrongdoing and has not been formally charged with any crime associated with Epstein.
